Great weekend in Mt Dora for a regatta sponsored by the Mt Dora YC for the 69th year. 89 boats spread out over 3 courses on Lake Dora. We had 14 Waves and sailed 7 races over the 2 days. 5 different sailors had bullets, but Jane Sherrod had the most bullets with 3. She also had some great finishes in the races that she didn't win outright. Wind was not quite as good as Clermont, Fla the March 4th weekend, but still 10 plus with gusts into the mid teens for both days. With a lake, we also got shifts and holes which led to some interesting scores. Finishing order: Jane Sherrod- 1st, 20pts, Ray Matuszak- 2nd, 23pts, Nelson Wright-3rd, 26pts, Terry Warren-4th, 30pts, Jeff Betts, 5th, 36pts, Bob Henderson, 6th, 54pts, Sharon Woodruff, 7th, 55pts, John Cole, 8th, 55pts, Greg Casey, 9th, 56pts, Hollis Caffee, 10th, 60pts, Bruce Henderson, 11th, 66pts, Ted Boyd, 12th, 71pts, Roland Neuffer, 13th, 93pts, Pete Pollard, 14th, 94 pts. Footnote: Jane Sherrod returned to Fla for this event, winning the Wave Class trophy, the Best Woman Sailor at the Regatta Trophy, and the Chamber of Commerce Trophy for the longest trip to the event .
The club hosted a "Waves Only" regatta last October and had 19 boats. We plan to do it again this year in the fall and will advise when we work out a date.
